Hell Hath Frozen Over.
September 4th 2003, 00:39 CEST by Charles

LucasArts has given UT2003 Troopers a green light.

Excerpt:

The agreement made with LucasArts (after a long period of VERY friendly negotiations) also allows the Troopers Development Team to implement Star Wars assets and content directly from the movies and games. This means that, with the exception of the Star Wars music (which LucasArts doesn't own the rights to, and so therefore could not give us the rights to use), we can use anything we want.

Ok well that's 11 posts in before anyone called Lucas a greedy pigfucking capitalist (in so many words).

Might be a new record for a Star Wars themed thread.

Good PR?  Lucas also opened up a ton of content and usage rights for IP to fan film makers quite a while ago.
Lucasarts did some nice things too. They officially endorsed a site for mod-makers to host their Star Wars themed content. I thought everyone knew this since there was a lot of talk about it when it was launched last year.

If you're looking for Star Wars goodness in your gaming.. Knights of the Old Republic is the answer.

This is the second thread you've said something good about the xbox, or an xbox game.  What happened to the Friend we all know and love that used to say the Gamecube was the only console anyone needed?

No his theme song has been 'different strokes'

and from all reports and feedback, Knights of the Old Republic is an extremely good game, one that doesnt just throw star wars at you, but is a good game in its own right.

The next 4 months are going to be entertaining game wise, Tron 2.0, Max Payne 2, Half life 2, HALO, KOTOR (pc), UT2004 and others Im sure Im forgetting.

I don't think I've ever said Gamecube was the only console anyone ever needed -- I myself own all 3 of the "current" consoles.

I have said that Gamecube has the best games.

But, as I mentioned in another post here somewhere the Xbox is really starting to come into its own now.  A number of really good to great games have been released for it recently and a number of games that look even greater are just on the horizon.  If Nintendo dropped their hardware business and became an Xbox developer, the Xbox would be console gamer heaven.  Alas...

OK, my mom wants to get a new computer for my father, but it has to be small enough where they can lug it between NY and FL and is easy to set up.  A laptop is probably to expensive (and too small of a screen), but I haven't seen many small machines.  The monitor would have to be a LCD one too.  They will use it for web, e-mail and their digital camera.  I've taken a shine to that Falcon NW job, but it's too gamer focused.  Suggestions?

Shuttle makes some nice, cheap, carryable (buy the carrybag), sleek looking boxes for users who will only ever need the basics like email, browser, Office and such.  Thing costs in the US$200 range, though I think there are even higher end models for gamers.  You'll need to either BYO CDROM and monitor or somehow find a reseller that will sell you a preconfigged package.

I can't imagine lugging a non-laptop around on a regular basis.  Regardless of how small the case is, the monitor is going to take up a ton of room.  If you're worried about it being too small, get that extra-wide Apple from that stupid ad with the tall guy and the midget.

Hey Yotsuya, does this mean you like the new Coyote's logo?  Personally I like the symbol, but I think they could've done better than just ripping off the Red Wings colors wholesale.  After all of Wayne's extolling the virtues of tradition, they don't go back to Winnepeg Jets colors?  WTF is up with that?
#46 by CheesyPoof

They won't be lugging it on a regular basis, just when the go between NY and FL.  Then they will go to FL they will stay there for a few months and it will just sit there.

Shadarr-

I'm getting used to it. I preferred the southwest kachina look at first, but it's growing on me.

Actually, brick red is part of the Coyotes original color scheme, so going all red isn't really a Red Wings rip-off. However, it's a bit too plain for me. For my money, I think Carolina has the best sweater when it comes to balancing a traditional look while still having contemporary elements.

Yotsuya,

I'm just happy that for once, somebody changed thier jersey and didn't make it worse.  The last time I can remember this happening (other than when the Islanders decided to just abandon the Captain Highliner look and go back to their old symbol) was probably the Penguins back in the early 90's.  I have faith that they will come out with an all-black third jersey though.  Everybody does.

Wow, I just checked and the 17" Powerbook costs $3300 US.  I won't suggest that, then.

If they're going the desktop route, I wouldn't even worry about getting a small one.  The thing's going to be a bitch to transport no matter what, and a full-size case is a cheaper and less hassle to upgrade.  Don't most of the shuttles only have one PCI slot?

The 17 inch laptops, like the Toshibia, the Dell, and the sager, are plenty big enough, screen wise. Plus, the sager and I think the dell have full sized keyboards, number pad and all. I don't much like the toshiba.

Hypnosis is not a viable method, unless you are looking for a placebo. I would suggest cognitive-behavioral therapy (which is more focused and somewhat easier), or gestalt therapy (which has a lot of good practitioners, but tends to creep into the rest of your life and make you break down your carefully built rationalizations).
